8-8 Eagles
December 30th, 2007 8:51 PM
Well I'm glad that season is over.  At least McNabb looked good the last few games.  I think he will be back for another year.  Congrats to BWest for setting a few Eagles franchise records.  I hope he can have another year like that next year.  A big time receiver sure would look good in Eagles green next year.  Hopefully we don't get a Cowboys vs Patriots SuperBowl.  Painful surgery would be a better time than that.

The Sky is Falling!!!
December 17th, 2007 3:09 PM

If you read the article in the News Journal on Sunday you would think that we re in the middle of the Great Depression.  It is actually a pretty balanced market.  It is just not the super sellers market that it was in 2004.

Delaware is actually doing better than most parts of the county.  In fact certain areas that had high investor speculation over the past 7-10 years, that experienced the most extreme increases seeing the large decreases in value  (Florida, Las Vegas, California).  The Michigan market is also being hit hard but that is due to the auto industry and job market and not specualtors.

The current Days on Market in the county is 51 days.  Unless you bought your home within the last 18 months, it is probably worth more than you paid.  If you would like a free home valuation today, let me know and I will gladly assist.

Who has the best Subs in Wilmington????
December 14th, 2007 1:44 PM

I've been researching his topic for about 27 years now.  My personal favorite is Casapula's Italian. I've been going there since I was a little kid. Also the Gourmet Italian from Goodfellas in prices corner is fantastic.  Yat'z on Union Street is another great spot.

I've poled 20 people in the last couple days and Capriotti's got the most votes, followed by Casapulas.  I think Cap's is overrated myself.  I like the Bobbie but am not a big fan of their subs.

Others recieving votes:

Claymont steaks

Jacks Country Maid

Valle Cucina

Wawa

Subway( The guy who said that was new to the area and didnt know any better)

Please feel free to post your favorite place.

Number 1: On the Waterfront(1954)
December 10th, 2007 2:05 PM

Winner of 8 Oscars including best actor, director and film for 1954.

This is the story of Terry Malloy(Brando) a former boxer turned longshoreman's struggle to stand up to the Mob that controls the dockers union.

Excellent cast.  Eva Saint Marie, Karl Malden, Rob Steiger and Lee J Cobb as Johnny Friendly, the mob boss.

Charlie: Look, kid, I - how much you weigh, son? When you weighed one hundred and sixty-eight pounds you were beautiful. You coulda been another Billy Conn, and that skunk we got you for a manager, he brought you along too fast.
Terry: It wasn't him, Charley, it was you. Remember that night in the Garden you came down to my dressing room and you said, "Kid, this ain't your night. We're going for the price on Wilson." You remember that? "This ain't your night"! My night! I coulda taken Wilson apart! So what happens? He gets the title shot outdoors on the ballpark and what do I get? A one-way ticket to Palooka-ville! You was my brother, Charley, you shoulda looked out for me a little bit. You shoulda taken care of me just a little bit so I wouldn't have to take them dives for the short-end money.
Charlie: Oh I had some bets down for you. You saw some money.
Terry: You don't understand. I coulda had class. I coulda been a contender. I coulda been somebody, instead of a bum, which is what I am, let's face it. It was you, Charley.

If you have never watched this film do yourself a favor and check it out.  The film is actually playing this Wednesday on the big screen at Theater N in Wilmington at 7pm.  Tickets are 7.00.  If you are not familiar with theater N, it is right across from Deep Blue next to Hotel DuPont.

Number 3: Casablanca(1942)
December 3rd, 2007 3:03 PM

Bogart classic!  Winner of 3 Oscars including best picture.  Bogey as Rick Blaine has some of the greatest lines of all time.  Rick is an American bar owner in unoccupied Africa at the beginning of World War II.  My favorite scene is towards the beginning of the movie, Bogart is managing his bar and a young drunk woman Yvonne has the following dialogue.

Yvonne: Where were you last night?
Rick: That's so long ago, I don't remember.
Yvonne: Will I see you tonight?
Rick: I never make plans that far ahead.

His love interest later in the film is played by Ingrid Bergman.

Interesting side note.  Rick's rival bar in the film is named The Blue Parrot.  If you haven't been to The Blue Parrot on Union St next to Robino's your missing out on a fun time.  Live music most nights.
